Leslie AR — Terms of Service
Effective date: September 21, 2026 · Last updated: September 19, 2026
1. What Leslie AR is
Leslie AR is software you license to conduct your own accounts-receivable follow-up. You remain the creditor throughout.
We do not collect debts. Specifically, we:
- do not take assignment of, or title to, any debt;
- do not receive, hold, or process payments from your customers;
- do not contact anyone in our own name — outreach is sent from your connected mailbox, from your domain; and
- are never paid a percentage of what you recover. Our pricing is a subscription and will remain one.
You direct the activity: you configure the rules, and you approve each round of outreach before it is sent (Section 5).
2. Eligibility and your account
- You must be at least 18 and able to enter into contracts.
- Leslie AR is for business use, to follow up on invoices owed to your business.
- You must verify your email address before using the service.
- You are responsible for the security of your account credentials and for activity under your account.
3. Your representations
Each time Leslie AR contacts one of your customers on your instruction, you represent that:
- The debt is genuinely owed to you, for goods or services you provided.
- The contact information is accurate and lawfully obtained, as supplied by your accounting system.
- You have the consent required to contact that customer by email about the account, whether through your invoice terms, a credit application, an explicit opt-in, or another lawful basis.
- Your use complies with applicable law, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act where it applies to you, the CAN-SPAM Act, and state equivalents.
These are not formalities. They are the basis on which we act on your instruction.
4. Acceptable use
You may not use Leslie AR to:
- contact anyone who does not owe money to your business;
- harass, threaten, or mislead anyone;
- send content that is deceptive, or that threatens consequences you are not authorized to pursue, such as legal action, credit reporting, or fees;
- upload or chase fabricated invoices, or invoices belonging to someone else;
- contact anyone who has asked you or us to stop; or
- work around the service's contact limits, quiet hours, or suppression lists.
Every chase must trace to a real invoice in your connected accounting system. The service enforces this; these Terms make circumventing it a breach.
5. Approvals — how sending works
- Leslie AR drafts follow-ups and waits for you. Nothing goes to a customer until you approve that round, by digest email or in the dashboard.
- Once you approve an outreach, Leslie AR may respond to that customer's replies within that conversation, so a reply is not left unanswered. You can require approval for replies as well in your settings.
- Anything outside what you configured — a dispute, a payment plan, a demand touching the amount owed — is escalated to you rather than answered.
- There is no unattended mode. We do not offer one.
6. Email sending
- You connect a mailbox you control. Leslie AR sends through it, so mail comes from your address, with your domain's sending reputation, and appears in your Sent folder.
- You are responsible for maintaining that mailbox, including the forwarding rule that lets Leslie AR see replies.
- We may suspend sending for your account if bounce or spam-complaint rates exceed our thresholds, or if we receive credible abuse reports. This protects other customers and your own domain.
- New accounts have lower sending limits for an initial period.
7. Your customers' data
- For data about your customers, you are the data controller and we are your processor. We process it only to provide the service and as you instruct.
- For data about you and your account, we are the controller. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why.
- Requests from your customers. If one of your customers asks us for access to or deletion of their data, we will forward the request to you and tell them we have done so. You are responsible for responding within 30 days. We will honor a request to stop being contacted immediately, regardless.
- Security incidents. We will notify you within 30 days of becoming aware of a breach affecting your data or your customers' data.
- Sub-processors. The vendors we use are listed in the Privacy Policy. We will give notice before adding a new one.
8. Plans, payment, and advertising
- Free tier. Up to 10 customers chased at a time and 500 emails a month. We will give notice before changing these limits.
- Paid plans. Not yet available. When they open we will publish prices, limits, and billing terms before you can subscribe, and these Terms will be updated to cover them.
From time to time we may include advertising from partners in our regular communications with you, and we may use anonymized, aggregated usage data to choose what to show. You can opt out of partner advertising at any time in your settings, on any plan. We never place advertising in email sent to your customers, in digests, or in service alerts, and we never sell your customers' data or use it to target advertising.
9. Suspension and termination
- You may close your account at any time.
- We may suspend or terminate for breach of these Terms, for bounce or complaint rates above our thresholds, for abuse reports, for non-payment, or where required by law.
- On closure, your account is frozen and all outbound sending stops immediately.
10. What happens to data when you leave
We keep data for the life of your account, plus the windows below:
| Category | What happens |
|---|---|
| Conversations, messages, contacts, accounting cache, your settings | Deleted after a 30-day grace period. Connected credentials are revoked, then deleted. |
| Compliance log of what was sent — timestamp, channel, destination, approval reference, policy version, content fingerprint | Kept at least 4 years, message bodies removed. This is how we can answer a claim that someone was contacted unlawfully. |
| Anonymized aggregate statistics, carrying no identity | Kept indefinitely. |
| Do-not-contact records, stored as one-way fingerprints | Kept indefinitely, so a request to stop is honored permanently — including after your account closes. |
The 30-day grace period exists so an accidental deletion can be undone. The Privacy Policy explains this in more detail.
11. Indemnification
You will defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and costs, including reasonable legal fees, arising from:
- your breach of the representations in Section 3;
- your breach of Section 4;
- the accuracy or lawfulness of contact data you supply; or
- your use of the service in violation of applicable law.
Our indemnity to you. We will defend, indemnify, and hold you harmless from third-party claims alleging that the Leslie AR software, as provided by us and used in accordance with these Terms, infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, or that we breached our confidentiality or data-protection obligations under Section 7.
Each indemnity is conditioned on the indemnified party giving prompt notice of the claim, allowing the indemnifying party to control the defense, and cooperating reasonably. Your indemnity above is not subject to the limitation in Section 13.
12. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is." We do not warrant that it will collect any particular amount, that outreach will be delivered, or that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
We do not provide legal advice. Whether and how you may contact a customer about a debt depends on law that varies by state and by the nature of the debt. That judgment is yours.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, or lost data, even if advised of the possibility.
- Our total liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US$100.
- These limits do not apply to your indemnity obligations under Section 11, either party's breach of confidentiality, or liability that cannot be limited by law.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. For material changes we will give notice by email and at https://leslie.ar/terms. Continued use after the effective date means you accept them.
15. Governing law and disputes
Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
Arbitration. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service will be resolved by final and binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Commercial Arbitration Rules, seated in New York, New York. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Exceptions. Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either party may seek injunctive relief in court to protect its intellectual property or confidential information.
Class-action waiver. Disputes will be brought only in an individual capacity. Neither party may bring a claim as a plaintiff or class member in any class, consolidated, or representative proceeding, and the arbitrator may not consolidate claims or preside over any form of representative proceeding. If this waiver is held unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim — and only that claim — will proceed in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, and both parties consent to that jurisdiction and venue.
